Last year I tried out for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Funny, right?
The most valuable part of this experience came before I got on stage.
A free comedy workshop by Ivan Aristeguieta.
I was expecting an hour of endless laughter. Instead, I got a lesson in business (and life). And I laughed! 

Ivan is student of his craft. The experience felt more like an academic workshop. He taught us about the ‘anatomy of a joke’, how to create and release tension, and the effing factor.
The effing factor is what stood out the most. (I will use the word frickin to keep things PG). 

Ivan posed the question,
“What do you frickin love? What do you frickin hate? This is what you should write jokes about.”
This is what business and life is about too.

But when you are in the presence of someone who is fully expressed, you can’t take your eyes and ears off them.

 So, what does Ivan frickin love?

“The absorptive properties of Weet-Bix.” Check out his HILARIOUS bit here. 

You could tell he was genuinely amused and fascinated by the absorptive properties of Weet-Bix.

It drew me in. Not only to his joke, but to him. Passion is attractive. 

So, what does this have to do with Lifestyle Medicine.

Well, what do you frickin love?

Immerse yourself in it and every aspect of your life will transform.

What do you frickin hate?

Let this be the anti-vision – the opposite of what you want for yourself and the people you serve.

I frickin love

–> Helping people find higher levels of happiness (hence why I wrote Do Happy)
–> Reversing diseases that are usually treated with medications, through lifestyle changes.
–> Entrepreneurship
–> Writing (and reading)
–> Getting paid well for high impact work (and helping others do the same)

I frickin hate

–> Prescribing medications for things that can be treated, reversed, or prevented with Lifestyle Medicine.

–> Short consults for long problems

–> Dry Weet-Bix on cereal bowls (so hard to clean!)
